Belastingdienst HBI

For every good that is imported, the Dutch tax office requires you to pay taxes (in Dutch, the tax office is called the “Belastingdienst”, which literally means “tax service“, oddly enough). These taxes vary wildly based on the sort of good, the amount, land of origin etc. To make the process of searching and selecting the right tariffs, a project was started to create a web application of this giant catalogue. The result is the HBI (“Heffingen bij invoer”) application, for which I created most of the CSS. This being a governement website, it had to adhere to the most strict technical standards.
